Description

Za’atar Manakish is a traditional Levantine flatbread topped with a mixture of za’atar spice and olive oil.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon dry yeast
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup za’atar spice

Instructions

  1. Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let it sit for 5 minutes.
  2. Add flour, salt, and olive oil to the yeast mixture. Knead until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise for 1 hour.
  4. Preheat the oven to 475°F (245°C).
  5. Roll out the dough into flat rounds.
  6. Spread the za’atar mixture on top of the dough.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until golden.
  8. Remove from oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

  • Store leftovers in an airtight container.
  • Reheat in the oven for best results.
  • Can add cheese for a richer flavor.
