Description
Soft pretzels made with sourdough discard. They have a chewy texture and salty crust.
Ingredients

- 1 cup sourdough discard
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 0.5 cup baking soda
- 2 tablespoons coarse salt
Instructions
- Mix your yeast and sugar into warm water.
- Add your sourdough discard and salt.
- Stir in your flour to form a dough.
- Knead your dough for five minutes.
- Cover your dough and let it rise for one hour.
- Divide your dough into eight equal pieces.
- Roll each of your dough pieces into a long rope.
- Twist your ropes into pretzel shapes.
- Boil water with baking soda in your large pot.
- Boil each of your pretzels for thirty seconds.
- Place your pretzels on a lined baking sheet.
- Sprinkle your pretzels with coarse salt.
- Bake your pretzels at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for fifteen minutes.
Notes
- Use active dry yeast for your best results.
- Do not skip your baking soda bath.
- Serve your pretzels warm with mustard.
