Instructions

  3. In a bowl, cream the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, buttermilk, vanilla, and food coloring; mix well.
  5. In another bowl, combine flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix until smooth.
  7. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  9. Let cakes cool in pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  10. Frost with your favorite cream cheese frosting.
