Ingredients

  • 1 cup mushrooms, sliced
  • 1 onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tomatoes, chopped
  • 1/2 cup yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons biryani masala
  • 3 tablespoons oil
  • 4 cups water
  • Salt to taste
  • Cilantro for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse the basmati rice until the water runs clear.
  2. Soak the rice in water for 30 minutes.
  3. Heat oil in a pan, add onions, and sauté until golden brown.
  4. Add mushrooms and sauté for 5 minutes.
  5. Add tomatoes, yogurt, biryani masala, and salt. Cook for 5 minutes.
  6. Add soaked rice and water. Bring to a boil.
  7. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes.
  9. Fluff the rice with a fork and garnish with cilantro.
