Heavenly Mulberry Recipe Cobbler – Sweet & Simple

  • Total Time: 40 mins
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x
  • Diet: Halal

Description

Try this easy mulberry recipe cobbler for a sweet, comforting dessert that bursts with fresh fruit flavor. Perfect for any occasion!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh mulberries, rinsed and drained
  • 1 cup granulated sugar, divided (½ cup for fruit, ½ cup for topping)
  • 2 tablespoons all‑purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 cup all‑purpose flour (for topping)
  • ½ cup rolled oats
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9‑inch round baking dish with a little butter or non‑stick spray.
  2. Prepare the fruit: In a large bowl, combine the mulberries, ½ cup sugar, 2 tbsp flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Toss gently until the berries are evenly coated. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish.
  3. Make the topping: In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup flour, oats, brown sugar, melted butter, vanilla, and a pinch of salt until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the fruit.
  4. Bake for 35–40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling. If the topping browns too quickly, cover loosely with foil.
  5. Cool for 10 minutes before serving. The cobbler will thicken as it rests.
  6. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream, if desired.

Notes

  • Use ripe, juicy mulberries for maximum flavor. If you can’t find fresh ones, frozen mulberries work well—just thaw and drain before using.
  • For a crispier topping, add a tablespoon of ground flaxseed or chia seeds to the crumb mixture.
  • To keep the fruit from drying out, sprinkle a teaspoon of cornstarch over the berries before baking.
  • Serve immediately for the best texture; the topping will soften if left to sit too long.
