Description
Inarizushi is a type of sushi made with sweetened rice stuffed in tofu pockets.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups sushi rice
- 2 1/2 cups water
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 10 inari age (fried tofu pouches)
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Instructions
- Rinse sushi rice under cold water until water runs clear.
- Combine rice and water in a pot and bring to a boil.
- Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
- Remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes.
- In a bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved.
- Fold the vinegar mixture into the rice gently.
- Cool the rice to room temperature.
- Open each inari age pouch and fill with sushi rice.
- Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- Serve chilled or at room temperature.
Notes
- Use short-grain rice for best results.
- Adjust sweetness to taste.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container.
