Description

Inarizushi is a type of sushi made with sweetened rice stuffed in tofu pockets.


Ingredients

  • 2 cups sushi rice
  • 2 1/2 cups water
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 10 inari age (fried tofu pouches)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. Rinse sushi rice under cold water until water runs clear.
  2. Combine rice and water in a pot and bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 20 minutes.
  4. Remove from heat and let sit for 10 minutes.
  5. In a bowl, mix rice vinegar, sugar, and salt until dissolved.
  6. Fold the vinegar mixture into the rice gently.
  7. Cool the rice to room temperature.
  8. Open each inari age pouch and fill with sushi rice.
  9. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
  10. Serve chilled or at room temperature.

  • Use short-grain rice for best results.
