Description

This dish blends ground beef and shrimp with seasoned rice. It uses classic Cajun flavors for a hearty meal.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 pound shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 2 cups long grain white rice
  • 1 onion diced
  • 1 green bell pepper diced
  • 2 stalks celery diced
  • 3 cloves garlic minced
  • 4 cups beef broth
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned.
  3. Stir in onion bell pepper and celery.
  4. Cook vegetables until soft.
  5. Add garlic and Cajun seasoning.
  6. Pour in beef broth and bring to a boil.
  7. Stir in rice and reduce heat to low.
  8. Cover and simmer for 15 minutes.
  9. Place shrimp on top of rice.
  10. Cover and cook for 5 more minutes until shrimp are pink.
  11. Fluff with a fork and serve.

Notes

  • Use low sodium broth to control salt levels.
  • Swap white rice for brown rice but increase the cook time.
  • Add cayenne pepper if you want more heat.
