Description
A savory rice dish made with dried black mushrooms, known as Diri Djon Djon.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups of long-grain rice
- 1 cup of dried Djon Djon mushrooms
- 4 cups of water
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Black pepper to taste
Instructions
- Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Soak the dried mushrooms in warm water for 30 minutes.
- In a pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sauté until soft.
- Add the soaked mushrooms and their soaking liquid to the pot.
- Stir in the rice, water, salt, and pepper.
- Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and cover.
- Cook for 20 minutes or until rice is tender and liquid is absorbed.
- Fluff the rice with a fork before serving.
Notes
- Store leftover rice in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Use vegetable broth instead of water for extra flavor.
- This dish pairs well with grilled meats or vegetables.
