  • Yield: 2 cups 1x
  • Diet: Vegetarian

Description

You can make the pimento cheese spread served at the Augusta National golf tournament. This recipe uses simple ingredients to create a creamy texture for sandwiches or crackers.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese shredded
  • 4 ounces cream cheese softened
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 4 ounces diced pimentos drained
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Shred the cheddar and Monterey Jack cheese by hand for the best texture.
  2. Place the softened cream cheese and mayonnaise in a mixing bowl.
  3. Mix the cream cheese and mayonnaise until the mixture is smooth.
  4. Add the shredded cheeses and drained pimentos to the bowl.
  5. Sprinkle the onion powder garlic powder and cayenne pepper over the mixture.
  6. Stir all ingredients until the spread is well combined.
  7. Place the spread in a covered container.
  8. Refrigerate the cheese for at least two hours before you serve it.

Notes

  • Use block cheese instead of pre-shredded cheese.
  • Drain the pimentos thoroughly to avoid a watery spread.
  • Store leftovers in your refrigerator for up to five days.
  • Serve the cheese on white bread for a traditional sandwich.
