Description
Patriotic punch with stunning red, white, and blue layers – the perfect 4th of July drink for your celebration!
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cranberry juice (for the red layer)
- 1 cup full-fat coconut milk (for the white layer)
- 1 cup blue raspberry syrup (for the blue layer)
- 1 cup ice cubes
- 1 cup sparkling water
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced (for garnish)
- 1 cup fresh blueberries (for garnish)
- Optional: whipped cream for topping
- Optional: star-shaped cookie cutters for garnish
Instructions
- Prepare the Red Layer: In a pitcher, combine 2 cups of cranberry juice with 1/2 cup of ice cubes. Stir well and set aside in the refrigerator to chill for at least 30 minutes.
- Prepare the White Layer: Pour 1 cup of full-fat coconut milk into a separate container and refrigerate until ready to use. The cold coconut milk will create a distinct white layer.
- Prepare the Blue Layer: In a small bowl, mix 1 cup of blue raspberry syrup with 1 cup of sparkling water. Stir until well combined and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- Assemble the Drink: Take a clear tall glass or a mason jar. Start by pouring the chilled cranberry juice mixture into the glass, filling it about one-third full.
- Add the White Layer: Carefully pour the chilled coconut milk over the back of a spoon into the glass. This technique will help the coconut milk float on top of the cranberry juice rather than mixing immediately.
- Add the Blue Layer: Again, using the back of a spoon technique, slowly pour the blue raspberry mixture over the coconut milk to create the third layer.
- Garnish: Add fresh strawberries and blueberries around the rim of the glass or float them on top. For an extra patriotic touch, add a dollop of whipped cream and a small star-shaped cookie if desired.
- Serve Immediately: This layered drink is best served immediately after assembly to maintain the distinct layers. If you’re making a large batch for a party, consider assembling individual drinks just before serving.
Notes
- Use a clear glass to showcase the beautiful layers of the drink
- Chill all ingredients thoroughly before assembly for best layering results
- The back of a spoon technique is crucial for creating distinct layers
- For a creamier white layer, you can use sweetened condensed milk instead of coconut milk
- If the layers start to mix, don’t worry – it will still taste delicious, just with a blended patriotic color
- For a sweeter version, you can add simple syrup to taste
- Use fresh, high-quality ingredients for the best flavor
- Consider making mini versions in shot glasses for a fun party appetizer
